John 8:12-30

Chapter 8
12 Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will by no means walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not true.” 14 Jesus answered them, “Even if I bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I have come from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.” 15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. 16 And if I judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent me. 17 And in your own law it is written that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am the one testifying about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me. 19 They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come. 21 He said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me; and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you are not able to come.” 22 Therefore the Jews were saying, "He will not kill himself, will he? Because he says, 'Where I am going, you are not able to come.'" 23 And he said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are from this world; I am not from this world." 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sins. 25 They said to him therefore, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “The beginning—what I am also telling you.” 26 I have many things to speak about you and to judge; but the one who sent me is truthful, and I speak to the world these things that I heard from him. 27 They did not know that he was speaking to them about the Father. 28 Jesus therefore said, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and that I do nothing from myself, but just as the Father taught me, I speak these things.” 29 And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him. 30 As he was saying these things, many believed in him.
